Petty Crimes in Valley Street

Residents of Valley Street, I hope you would take some time to read this post. There have been numerous cases of cases of unreported petty crimes in our neighborhood. There are complains of vandalism and pick pocketing occurrences. The above picture is an example of vandalism. The vandals apparently stuck pieces of paper on the sign board.

This is another example of vandalism in Valley Street. The vandals sprayed paint on the resident's vehicle. These petty criminals are getting away scot free and we are starting to worry for our safety.

Strays in The Neighborhood

Some residents have also noticed a sudden increase in the number of stray cats and dogs in the area.
The above picture shows an area in Valley Street filled with cats.

The streets are littered with cat food as people are feeding these cats. The above picture shows a few cats eating the food and leaving the remains there.

There are also reported cases of joggers being bitten by stray dogs. Something needs to be done about these stray animals.

Improving the Situation

Petty Crimes:
  • To prevent vandalism, we can act as a community to nab the petty criminals together if we witness such acts. We can forge a closer bond in our community which leads us to our next point.
  • We can have community events whereby we pick up litter around our neighborhood.
  • If any suspicious person is spotted, please call the grassroot leader or the police immediately.
  • We can install CCTVs in the car parks where the vandals could be spotted vandalizing the cars.
  • Please place your belongings in your bag and if you really want to put it in your pocket, please be aware of pick pockets.
  • Avoid walking through large crowds.
  • Please do not leave your belongings unattended.
  • Keep valuable belongings in your front pockets or bags.

Strays & Littering:
  • Please do not feed the stray cats so that cat food will not litter the streets of our neighborhood. By not feeding the cats, it is also a way to reduce the number of stray cats in our neighborhood.
  • If strays are spotted, immediately call the SPCA.
  • When jogging, if stray dogs are in the vicinity, please avoid jogging towards them so that they do not adopt an aggressive nature towards you.
  • Do not intimidate the dogs with hand gestures or stares on purpose.
